When the spirit moves you, go on retreat.
How do you step away from modern life and reconnect with the spiritual? You may choose to go on retreat. Retreat is defined as a period of retirement or seclusion away from the pressures of ordinary life. People of all walks of life seek time away to recharge or rejuvenate their inner batteries.
Making a spiritual retreat is choosing a place of quiet to rediscover God. Father Thomas Keating said a retreat can be a booster or an accelerator of the spiritual journey. You can go a long way in a short amount of time. You set the time and we’ll help with the details.
Prairiewoods tailors your retreat to address your needs to provide the most meaningful experience. Here are some of the most common forms of retreat:
Directed Retreat
A directed retreat provides extended time for prayer, solitude and quiet. According to your preference, a daily one-to-one meeting with a spiritual director may be provided. Retreatants enjoy comfortable guest rooms or hermitages and meals in quiet areas. The retreat length is flexible. You may schedule a directed retreat at any time throughout the year.
Private Retreat
Private retreats accommodate individuals who desire time alone to pray and reflect using their own spiritual resources. Retreatants enjoy a comfortable, air conditioned guest room and meals in the quiet areas of the spirituality center or the solitude of a hermitage. You may schedule a private retreat any time throughout the year.
Group Retreat
For groups or organizations, Prairiewoods offers Days of Prayer and Renewal, as well as weekend retreats based on a pre-selected theme. These retreats provide an opportunity for input on a specific theme, along with time for private prayer, reflection and group discussion.
Day of Prayer
Come for a day of quiet and personal prayer. You will enjoy a room at the Guest House or Hermitage to use for rest and relaxation during the day. If desired, arrangements can be made for you to meet with a spiritual director or to enjoy a massage.
