Spirituality in the 21st Century

Spirituality in the 21st Century

Step onto the land. Breathe deeply. Let your spirituality come alive in relationship with the living world. You are warmly invited to Prairiewoods for our Annual Spirituality in the 21st Century Gathering, a transformative experience rooted in earth, body, and soul. Together, we will explore what it means to love the wild—within ourselves and beyond—guided by renowned theologian, scholar, and eco-spiritual guide Dr. Lisa Dahill.

The Rev. Dr. Lisa E. Dahill is the Miriam Therese Winter Professor  of Transformative Leadership and Spirituality and Director of the Center for Transformative Spirituality at Hartford International University. A widely respected scholar, teacher, and ordained Lutheran pastor, she is known for her groundbreaking work at the intersection of spirituality, ecology, ritual, and justice.

Dr. Dahill’s research and teaching invite us to re-imagine spiritual and contemplative practices through place-based wisdom, interspecies relationships, and ecological awareness. She is the author of Eco-Reformation: Grace and Hope for a Planet in Peril and Reading from the Underside of Selfhood, and is currently writing Jesus in the Earth: Rewilding Christian Spirituality. Her work offers hope, depth, and practical pathways for faithful living in a time of planetary change.

Equally at home in classrooms and wild places, Lisa is a passionate cyclist, hiker, gardener, swimmer, and kayaker—often found exploring local trails with her pug, Tiger. Her teaching flows from a deep conviction: restoring our relationship with Earth and its many beings is essential for healing human souls and nurturing communities that can truly thrive. And, as she reminds us, living close to Earth is also joyful, playful, and deeply life-giving.

Continuing Education for those serving in Clergy may be available.
