The Gathering Place: Interfaith Conversations

August 18 @ 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Free

Come together in community to make room for understanding and connections

At Prairiewoods, we honor all traditions and believe there is deep wisdom to be discovered when we gather across lines of faith, spirituality, and lived experience. In a world that often emphasizes difference and division, we seek to create spaces of welcome, curiosity, and meaningful connection—places where people can listen deeply, share openly, and encounter the sacred in one another.

As author and theologian John Philip Newell writes in Praying with the Earth: “When we open our hearts to one another and share the rich perspectives of our distinct traditions, it is not simply new or foreign insights that we exchange. Sometimes it is ancient and intimate insights that we uncover for one another in the other’s tradition. In other words, we need each other if we are to be well.

You are invited to a very special opportunity for community and conversation. Join us for the first of a quarterly dinner series, August 18th at 5:00 pm. These dinners will allow us all to focus on what we share: kindness, compassion, hope, belonging and caring for each other.  By gathering as a community, we make room for understanding and real connections to grow.

This event is free and is co-sponsored by the Inter-Religious Council of Cedar Rapids.

Registration is required. Dinner will be served at 5:30. We will honor the dietary needs connected to various traditions. (ie: Halal; Kosher). For other questions, please email ecospirit@prairiewoods.org or call (319) 395-6700.
