SUMMARY:The Power of Silence: June Silent Directed Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Participate in a week-long Silent Directed Retreat to delve deeply into the healing properties of silence Sunday\, May 31\, 5 p.m.–Saturday\, June 6\, 1 p.m. U.S. Central Time \nWe invite you to consider this question: What’s the deepest silence you’ve ever known? Silent Directed Retreats offer opportunities to enter into deep silence to sense what it feels like to awaken a quiet and palpable connection with the Source of All Being. Each day you will receive ongoing direction as you and a professionally-trained spiritual director intentionally listen to the movement of the Source of All Being in your heart. Silence assists you to get in touch with feelings\, thoughts and actions as you reflect\, meditate\, pray and rest. Silence deepens the capacity to discern\, notice\, sense the movement of the Source of All Being within the whole of your life. Sharing with a professional may bring you clarity\, deepen your commitment and accountability to the direction of your life\, and offer insight into that direction. \nAt Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha)\, we try to hold any outside stimulation to a minimum so that everything—the silence\, solitude\, reflective activities\, meals\, etc.—supports your journey within. A daily centering practice is offered. Optional reflective activities such as artwork\, yoga and singing bowl meditation are available throughout the week. Even meals are eaten reflectively in silence. Each day supports your individual needs. Stroll woods and prairie. Sense sunset quietly turn to dusk. Journal or read\, if you choose. Nap. Engage in yoga\, art expression\, meditation. Notice how food nourishes your capacity for silence. Explore holding the silence with creation all around you: humans\, stone\, tree\, pond\, squirrel\, deer\, turkey\, star\, moon\, dawn\, dusk … Is the silence simply the absence of noise? Or is it also a presence unto itself? See for yourself! Come re-establish and remember the deep connection we share with all of Creation as we listen together to the great silence. Take time to rest in silence\, to sense its wisdom\, to know its fullness as it offers you life. Author Carolyn Myss assures: “The soul always knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind.” \nThe cost of this weeklong retreat is $625 and includes lodging\, meals and spiritual direction. (Lodgers only\, please. Partial scholarships are available.) \nA non-refundable deposit of $25 is required at registration. (Full payment is required to register online. If you prefer to pay the $25 registration fee now and the balance when you arrive\, please call 319-395-6700.) If you want to stay in a Hermitage\, you also will need to register by phone. If you have dietary restrictions that affect your health\, please list them on the next screen. If you have missed the registration deadline or the retreat is sold out\, please call to be added to the wait list. \nRegister Now: https://pw.retreatportal.com/calendar/event?programcode=26PGR29862

SUMMARY:Men Exploring Faith (hybrid)
DESCRIPTION:Join with a small group of reflective men about the transformations we go through as we age second & fourth Thursdays\, 4–5:30 p.m. U.S. Central Time \nBehavioral scientists and spiritual guides have noted a major transformation in the life direction of many men as we mature. It may happen gradually or abruptly\, as early as our 20s or in our 50s or 60s. Some men never make this shift\, described as a change from goal drivenness to receptivity\, from ego to wisdom. The transition can start from the inside (Why am I doing what I’m doing?) or the outside (from a loss or threat)\, and it may seem disruptive while on the way to being life-enhancing. \nJoin with a small group of reflective men at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) in honest conversation about these changes. This group meets in person with an online option available on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month and is facilitated by Linzy Martin. \nRegister Now: https://pw.retreatportal.com/calendar/event?programcode=26PWS33892

SUMMARY:Men Exploring Faith (hybrid)
DESCRIPTION:Join with a small group of reflective men about the transformations we go through as we agesecond & fourth Thursdays\, 4–5:30 p.m. \nRegister Now: \nhttps://pw.retreatportal.com/calendar/event?programcode=26PWS33891

SUMMARY:Circle of Trust: Spring Regeneration
DESCRIPTION:Participate in a day-long retreat\, based on Parker Palmer’s idea of a “hidden wholeness” within us\, where we will explore our authentic selves in community with others \nSaturday\, May 2\, 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m. U.S. Central Time \nCircle of Trust© retreats offer participants an immersive experience of the Courage & Renewal© approach. Sponsored by the Center for Courage & Renewal (CCR) founded by Parker Palmer\, it is based on Palmer’s idea of a “hidden wholeness” within us. \nIn this time together at Prairiewoods\, we will co-create trustworthy space to do our own inner work in community with others. Discovering who we authentically are and aligning our inner and outer lives—or “soul and role”—is an ongoing\, life-long process that happens through discovering\, listening to\, and following our “inner source of truth\,” named in various wisdom traditions as identity\, true self\, heart\, spirit\, or soul. This source of guidance and strength helps us find our way through life’s complexities and challenges. Poems\, stories\, songs\, artworks\, somatic activities—all drawn from diverse cultures and wisdom traditions—will offer opportunities to contemplate\, reflect upon\, and share insights regarding authentic relationships with society\, nature\, and spirit in order to inspire the soul to speak in a community of support and trust. As we listen to the wisdom of each person’s inner teacher\, honor each person’s identity and integrity\, and renew a courageous spirit\, we journey toward personal and societal wholeness. \nEach Circle of Trust gathering will have a seasonal theme and will invite participants to engage in full-group\, small-group\, and individual reflection\, discussion\, and activity\, including opportunities to connect with the beautiful natural grounds at Prairiewoods. These Circles of Trust are open to all\, regardless of background or belief. The goal is to deepen understanding of one’s deepest self—one’s soul—especially in relationship to community\, society\, Earth\, and the spiritual realm as each circle member defines it. Participants are welcome to come to one\, some\, or all of our circle gatherings. \nThe cost is $50 per session. \nRegister Now: \nhttps://pw.retreatportal.com/calendar/event?programcode=26PWS34196
