The family who lives on the corner is busy with their sidewalk chalk, writing friendly messages and drawing rainbows and smiley faces in pretty pastel colors of yellow, pink, light green, baby blue and lavender. They do this, even with rain in the forecast. As I walk along their sidewalk squares I read:
We
Are
All
In
This
T
O
G
E

H

The rain temporarily washes away their community messages, but everyone will remember they were there.
The sun is out again, and the sidewalk chalk messages are back. Just as colorful. Just as hopeful.
What do you draw hope from?
Have you come upon community messages of hope on the sidewalk or in windows in your neighborhood? Are you writing messages to reach out, too? Are you drawing messages of hope for yourself, perhaps in a journal? Or for your family, on little notes taped to the bathroom mirror or on the refrigerator? How does it feel in your heart to actually draw these messages and to draw from these messages of hope?
