I am remembering a fond memory from a couple of years ago, being part of Sister Nancy’s retreat called Meet the Rest of the Relatives, where we spent time deep in the Prairiewoods mission, exploring and nurturing our relationship with the Earth, with ourselves, with the Creator, and with each other—including our tree and animal relatives, and our air and water relatives. I remember Sister Nancy saying, “The land knows you,” to all of us and we all carry that blessing in our hearts.
As we continue this time of PanDeepening and post-derecho recovery, the land at Prairiewoods still knows you, remembers you, and welcomes you back. Much of the prairie land has reopened, as has the labyrinth area, and (with the help of loving volunteers) the woods will gradually be reopening. We have signs to mark the current prairie paths, and signs marking areas that are still not yet accessible. You are welcome to come nurture and explore relationships … You are welcome to experience the beauty of the land and the loveliness of the fall season, to witness the turning of colors and be part of that turning.
What do you see at Prairiewoods? How does it feel to be with the land? What is opening in your heart?
