In the weeks ahead as we move through the holiday season, “What really matters most?” may be one of the most critical questions we need to pose to ourselves.
When we pause and remember what really matters most, we host the potential to re-vision and respond with connection, compassion and love. Sensing the choice and possibility present in each moment may surface the clarity necessary to move with ease into the next moment. Can we pause, reflect, sense and intentionally choose in each moment what matters most?
Renowned author and meditation teacher Jack Kornfield trained years ago as a Buddhist monk in Thailand, Burma and India. During a meditative walk through rice paddy fields of Thailand, Jack and other Buddhist monks in training noticed a large boulder in the center of one of the fields.
Kornfield’s Master challenged the monks, “Monks, is that boulder heavy?”
The neophyte monks eagerly and in unison replied, “Of course it is.”
The Master smiled and said, “Not if you don’t pick it up.”
When we offer ourselves such acute permission to choose in the moment, we may become incredible agents of transformation. As we enter into the fullness of the holiday season ahead, can we focus our attention on what REALLY matters?
Pause
Acknowledge what really matters most.
Choose accordingly.
Adapt to the life and love present in the moment.
In doing so, we contribute to an incredible, life-sustaining energy field of focused intention transforming the world.
