“It is not uncommon for people to spend their whole life waiting to start living.”
—Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now
As we approach the end of May, one of the busiest times of the year, it may bring closure to another school year for students and teachers. People graduate from various training programs and (fingers crossed) move into new phases of employment. Earth shifts from the gentle emergence of spring to the full-on vibrancy of profound growth. May brings forth new cycles in life.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on this. What is it you are longing for this season? Who is it that you are craving to be? What daydream is hiding in your heart? Do you know?
I encourage you to sit with these questions.
In our achieving world, where the struggle is real and pain is fresh, we often detach from intentionally exploring these questions.
I invite you to embrace this season of transition and ask yourself just one question:
How do I want to show up in this world?
This answer can lay the foundation for everything else. When you name and claim how you want to be (i.e., loving, giving, healthy, curious, inclusive, patient, peaceful, etc.) and begin living from that place, you are (as Tolle says) no longer waiting to start living—you have begun.
